Push Notifications can be configured for BYO azure services or provided by the IoT Nexus™ Smart Grid as part of your subscription quota.

To utilize the IoT Nexus™ provided notification hub services, please follow the below steps:

Configure Trial/Subscription License Type Push Notification Service

 

Navigate to Solution > Configuration > Push Notification

  • Uncheck the 'Private Azure Service Bus Notification Hub' checkbox
  • Navigate to the Settings 01 Tab and click Save Settings

 

To setup IoT Nexus™ for use with your organizations own Azure Services subscription, please follow the below steps:  

Configure BYO Azure Notification Hub Push Notification Service

 

Log on to the Azure Portal, and then click +NEW at the top left of the screen.

Click on New, then Web + Mobile. Scroll down if necessary and click Notification Hub.

Make sure you specify a unique name in the Notification Hub field. Select your desired Region, Subscription and Resource Group (if you have one already).

If you already have a service bus namespace that you want to create the hub in, select it through the Select Existing option in the Namespace field. Otherwise, you can use the default name which will be created based on the hub name as long as the namespace name is available.

Once ready, click Create.

Once the namespace and notification hub are created, you will be taken to the respective portal page.

Azure Portal - Notification hub portal pageClick on Settings and then Access Policies - take note of the two connection strings in the following steps that are made available to you, as you will need them to handle push notifications later.

Select the DefaultListenSharedAccessSignature and copy the connection string information for later use.

Select the DefaultFullSharedAccessSignature and copy the connection string information for later use.  

Your notification hub is now configured for basic functionality and you have the connection strings required to register the IoT Nexus™ app and send notifications.

Connect IoT Nexus™ to your Organizations Azure Notification Hub

 

Navigate to Solution > Configuration > Push Notification

  • Check the 'Private Azure Service Bus Notification Hub' checkbox to indicate you would like to use your organizations private Azure Notification Hub
  • Enter the Azure Notification Hub Name used during hub creation
  • Paste your notification hubs Default Listen Shared Access Signature which was copied during hub creation
  • Paste your notification hubs Default Full Shared Access Signature which was copied during hub creation
  • Navigate to the Settings 01 Tab and click Save Settings
